I just knew that my Year 1 angels know what platypus is from the 'Perry The Platypus' cartoon show. How disappointing! I should watch cartoon more often, I guess.

Weeks ago, my 1C kid gave me a drawing of an animal and I asked, "What is that?" and she answered, "Platypus." I was amazed! I mean, they know what a platypus is and they are just in Year 1. I knew platypus after I learnt Science in Year 6 or in secondary level. BLERGH! *pulls hair*
Another kid from 1B submitted her colouring work on the same day. At the bottom of the paper was a question that says, 'Give a title to the picture above' and she wrote down 'Flora'. Erm, I'm not quite fond of the name though. Not because she got the wrong concept but then it's a personal kind of thing.
Anyways, I was shocked that this kid knows the word 'flora' but I confronted her, 'Your mother asked you to name it Flora, didn't she?' and the kid just nodded. I'll cut my throat if a Year 1 kid knows the word 'botany'. Really.
